Island of Nuclides

This 8-metre long painting is a map of a fictional island assembled by chemical elements both of the known Periodic Table and others yet undiscovered at its very centre. The outlying coasts are unstable and radioactive, with growing stability further inland. The map is supplemented by stark images of Chernobyl, Hiroshima and Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant that cast a gloom over the whimsical island.
